Here’s What Our Resident’s Families Say

The hardest decision I ever had to make in my life was to put my Mother into a home, when her Alzheimers became worse. The decision became necessary for her safety and well-being, but at the time I felt guilty at having to follow this path. I looked at ten different nursing homes for the right one which I felt would meet her needs, taking into account not only the nursing care she would be receiving, but also the type of environment and the feel of the home I chose for her. Most of them felt clinical, institutionalized or impersonal. However I struck gold with the Manor Nursing Home.
It felt homely, the staff appeared very caring to the needs of the residents and overall it had a warm family atmosphere. Over the period of the 3 1/2 years that my mother has been here, vast improvements have been made to the decor and the work is still ongoing. A warm welcome is made whenever I pop in to visit her and I am always kept up to date with her health and needs.
It is also nice to know that the staff are there to support the families of the residents and to advise in all aspects concerning my mother.

I have worked at Halwill Manor Nursing Home as a cook for 4 years. So when the time came for my Mother in Law to be placed into care, I had no hesitation when my husband decided after much deliberation and many visits to other Nursing Homes, for her to become a resident at my place of work.As a cook here, I know that a well balanced menu is offered on a daily basis with fresh local produce used at mealtimes. It is often said by many staff that they eat better than we do! Dietary requirements and preferences of individuals are catered for where necessary and many residents are pleased with the home cooked meals that we provide. As an observer of my co-workers, I know that the well-being of the residents is of paramount importance in their roles, from the cleaners to the Nursing staff. It is nice to know that such places exist where every member of staff, resident and family visitors are treated as one big family with respect for all shown at all times.

Never thought we’d ever find Dad a suitable home, but, after many visits to different homes, none of which would have ever suited him, we stumbled across Halwill Manor Nursing Home. We found it very homely, caring and friendly and felt Dad was one of the family in his new environment. With a quiet country setting, home cooked good food, very clean, well loved, as is everyone, he fitted in as if he’d always lived here and feels he’s at home. The care is excellent and, though in his retirement years, his health is maintained to a high standard set by Jacqui and her team. The best home we’ve ever seen, and when it’s our turn we hope it’s still here. We can leave Dad in thoroughly good care.

After a long time looking for the right home we stumbled across Halwill Manor Nursing Home. It felt and smelt good, with Jacqui and staff very welcoming. The home cooking and friendly atmosphere is like home from home. He has settled well, has excellent care and attention and feels he’s at home with the quiet village setting and views, all of which adds to the environment. He wants for nothing and has all round attention of very high standard.
